The Community Action Alliance on NYU 2031 (CAAN 2031) is a coalition of Village, East Village, Union Square, and NoHo community groups concerned about the future of our neighborhoods in light of NYU’s massive proposed expansion plan. We believe that NYU’s  2031 Expansion Plan would have a dramatically negative impact upon our communities, irreversibly changing their character, and that there are reasonable and viable alternatives. As the plan cannot move ahead without the approval of both the City Council and the City Planning Commission, and as both the Manhattan Borough President and Community Board #2 will get to vote on the plan, we call upon our elected and appointed representatives to work with us and neighbors and residents of this community to ensure that NYU’s plans do not inalterably destroy the special quality of our neighborhoods.
