Sincere thanks to all in the community – groups, individuals, faculty, neighbors, students, unions and more – for standing together and standing strong against overwhelming odds.
Along the way, we’ve stopped a temporary gym and reduced the building bulk and that’s something, though the final Plan as approved is utterly unacceptable for 1.9 million reasons. But NYU was strong, well-financed and well-connected to the power structure of NYC, and we were unable to overcome that to save our open space, light and air, the quality of life in Greenwich Village, and the character of our residential neighborhood.
Now on to the next steps. The faculty lawsuit, announced yesterday after we were kicked out of City Hall, is proceeding. Other possibilities – legal and otherwise – are being investigated. WE FIGHT ON!
